It NEEDS to be SAID, it NEEDS to be WRITTEN

So, I haven't blogged in awhile because I have been writing articles for examiner.com, finishing the book, and I've had a ton of Athena's parties, BUT I needed to get this out there and the almighty BLOG is the best forum to share it...

I was working on some details for the book launch party. A new place opened up in town and it was AWESOME! It spoke to ME and I could see the launch here, it was perfect for everything! So I called to book. I explained I am a local author, love the place, and want to have my book launch party there. The young lady said she would call me back, but instead I got the following email:

"Good afternoon Jennifer,

Thank you for your interest in (name of the place omitted).

I have had a chance to run this by the Marketing Director etc. We will not be able to hold your party here at (name of the place omitted) due to the nature of the content."

While many of you asked, I am not posting the name of this place. I don't want to trash this new trendy place in Salem, NH, based on what I'm sure is one person's uneducated opinion. That decision-maker's judgement does not reflect on the food or the service...

BUT REALLY?

I was mad, upset and disappointed for all of 3 seconds before I had a renewed sense of urgency! A fire in my belly that this book NEEDS to be written! I will not waste my energy on the rejection, and as my friend Jen tweeted, "it's their loss".

So, I am on the hunt (and open to suggestions) for a new venue that wants me, my book, and the revenue.

And free sex toys.

  1. Ugh...talk about how "sex is not a dirty word," and yet the "nature of the content" isn't appropriate for them? Censorship has always pissed me off a bit, but this really kind of makes me angry.

Can't wait for your book to be published! Good luck with finding a BIGGER & BETTER location! :)
